Meet the Baker Southern Sweet Treats was founded by Sonia Daniell, a Louisiana native whose love of baking was shaped by family, faith, and the places life has taken her. Sonia grew up in the small town of Quitman, Louisiana. Although she has an older sister, Shannon, she was largely raised as an only child, spending much of her time in the kitchen and at church with her family. At the local Baptist church, she learned who God is and built the foundation of faith that would later shape both her life and her family. She attended Louisiana Tech University and later earned her master’s degree through the University of Phoenix Online. After completing her graduate degree, Sonia joined the United States Army, where she met her husband, Cameron. Together they have built a life centered around family, service, and adventure. The Army has taken their family to many different and beautiful places across the country. Each location has left its mark, influencing the flavors, ingredients, and creativity that now shape the desserts of Southern Sweet Treats. Today, Sonia bakes from her home kitchen, blending the comforting traditions of her Southern roots with the inspiration gathered from the many places her family has called home. She shares that life with Cameron, their two wonderful boys, and a very sassy corgi who keeps watch over the kitchen. Every dessert at Southern Sweet Treats carries a little piece of that journey — Southern roots, faithful beginnings, and the flavors of every place we’ve called home.
